Misty Mountain Top

It's been a while.  My apologies.  A lot has happened in the last few weeks!  My BFF AP came out fo visit for a weekend, and Dan suprised me with Ashley for a night, and my mother is here departing tomorrow!  Had a lot of company, but it's been nice to see everyone.  Reminds me of home.  We went to Mount Evans with Alissa, it's like heaven up there!  We also went to the Rockies game sporting our Brewers gear. The Brewers won also.  CO natives don't dig folks that aren't all about the Rockies!

Dan and I on Mt. Evans...

It was nice to have my mom here for a few days... miss her terribly.  I leave for Las Vegas one week from today... broke as a joke but I'm still excited to go.

I also purchased a wicker basket for my cruiser bicycle.  Looks bad-ass.... just saying.

I started reading "My Horizontal Life" by Chelsea Handler last night, I was cracking up.  Who knew she was such a great writer? I sure as hell didn't!

Well, untill next time.

Weekend of fun

Such a creative title right?  If that's not an attention grabber, then I'm not sure what is!  I had such a great weekend I had to write about it.  Friday I had graduation for our students, it's absolutely amazing.  It's so rewarding to see them succeed.  I can't wait to walk across that stage in about a year with my bachelors degree!!!

So after graduation on Friday, I was really tired so Dan ordered pizza and we watched "New in Town" because it's super Minnesotan, the accents were a bit over the top!  Then Saturday we got up and had Santiago's breakfast burritos, they were delicious.  We went to home depot and got a new patio table, tomato plants, jalapeno plants, and a venus fly trap.  I've always wanted a Venus Fly Trap.   The tomatoes and jalapenos are for our future salsa garden. We also bought some "Dusty Olive" colored paint to paint our room, I couldn't take the yellow any longer!!  I am a clumsy messy painter, but Dan has mad skills and taped off the top, it looks great.  I'll post a pic.  After we got done painting at 10PM we went to see "Get him to the greek.." it was hilarious, I had a blast.  I also made us steaks and crab legs for supper.  It was such a nice day... then Sunday we went vinyl record shopping and probably bought about twenty vinyls from, Lady Gaga to Steve Miller Band, Pink Floyd, Stevie Ray Vaughan, The Police, Eagles, The XX, and John Mellencamp.  We got a ton!  We went and got some beer and sandwiches later after that, and then we got Coldstone icecream and went to the fire show, with drums etc etc on the river by downtown Denver.  I love Dan so much, he suprises me with things like that and is always thinking about me.  I couldn't ask for a better weekend, It was so much to be able to spend time with him... makes me the happiest lady alive.

Fun Venus Fly Trap info:

The Venus Flytrap, Dionaea muscipula, is a carnivorous plant that catches and digests animal prey—mostly insects and arachnids. Its trapping structure is formed by the terminal portion of each of the plant's leaves and is triggered by tiny hairs on their inner surfaces. When an insect or spider crawling along the leaves contacts a hair, the trap closes if a different hair is contacted within twenty seconds of the first strike. The requirement of redundant triggering in this mechanism serves as a safeguard against a waste of energy in trapping objects with no nutritional value.

The plant's common name refers to Venus, the Roman goddess of love, whereas the genus name refers to Dione.[2] Dionaea is a monotypic genus closely related to the waterwheel plant and sundews.

B.F.F.

There's always those people in your life you know you couldn't live without. Other than family, I know it's these kids. I have the three coolest ladies as my best friends. I can always count on them to be there for me when I need them, and they can count on me for the same. I thought they deserved some recognition because it's not easy being my BFF. haha
We always end up in some kind of mischief, and a good story is sure to follow. Ever need a good laugh, we've got stories. We all learn from our mistakes but know that we will grow from them. I can honestly say that no matter how far away I am, they will always be there for me. Ashley is a flight attendant and will be coming to see me quite often and Alissa is coming in a few weeks. Jess has an adorable little girl, so I understand her having to stay home, but she always makes an autumn trip out west. I will see them when I go home in July. I just felt like writing about them because they make me happy. I'm glad Dan let's me have my girls no matter what. I've always had a relationship where it's basically unacceptable and I have to hang out with dudes all the time. Life couldn't be sweeter...

Summatime and the livings easy..

So I thought I would upload the pics and then let you think about what happened...
Happy belated Memorial day btw. Thanks to all of those who have served.
Sunday we went hiking in the Rocky Mountain National Park. I have only hiked once before in Colorado up in Breck... so we went all out. Bought boots, brought water, trail mix, and electrolyte jelly. We started out at Bear lake and were going to make a 5 mile loop... Well since men don't like to follow direction, we ended up lost in the middle of the mountains literally climbing up the hills on all fours in thigh high snow, I wasn't the least bit amused. Actually, may or may not have had a breakdown because I thought it was never going to end and I was exhausted. After a while, I got a bit worried, until we saw other hikers. We were soaked from the thighs down.. I almost wore shorts that day... needless to say, I got my ass handed to me by the Rockies, and can't wait to do it again. This time around, I will be in charge of being in front. I didn't find falling through snow to my thigh much fun, we didn't get to see some of the lakes we wanted to. All in all, we probably hiked 6 plus miles off trail... man I love my boyfriend :) the day got better though because we had some friends over for cocktails. We also had out 9 month anniversary at Landry's seafood. It was yum in my tum and made me go out and buy crab legs to make at home because I forget how life changing they really are. Since I've been out here, you'll notice a lot of landscape photos, I am still in awe at how gorgeous it is here in Colorado. I did, however, book my flight back to Minnesota in July. I can't wait to see the fam! Am not excited for the extreme humidity that July graces Minnesota with though. It was a beautiful Memorial weekend and I am so happy that I have Dan to spend my time off with. I don't know how I made it before not seeing him for 4-5 weeks at a time.
So, hope your Memorial Day weekend wasn't as life threatening ;) as mine!
