Lucy

Let's catch up on the wonderful life of Luc.  She is 6 months and 1 day old now.  99% potty trained, been a while since she had an accident, whether out of my laziness or spite.  Above is her, the day I brought her home.  I honestly didn't eat for three days, I just wasn't sure I was going to be the best for her.   So far so good, she has graduated puppy and intermediate classes.  She can sit, stay, play dead, rollover, and eat like a horse!   I love her more than anything right now, she is all I have out here in Denver.

There she is, graduated!  This is just from puppy class.  She is definitely basset, whines like one, eats like one, and is lazy like one.  I'd like to think I found her, but she found me.

To be continued

For those about to rock

Damn it's been awhile, eh?  I am currently still residing in the beautiful Colorado, Denver still.  I have been single for a year now, and I have my own place near SoBo, Baker neighborhood.  I got a puppy in October, which will consume my blog from this point on, I assume. Her name is Lucy, the basset hound mix.  I rescued her from the Boulder Valley Humane Society, and haven't looked back since.

I'll just start this by getting you caught up on my life.  I received my Bachelors degree in December... FINALLY!!!  I am now halfway through my first Masters course, and loving it.  It's just myself and Lucy presently.  I have been through a lot this past year, and have learned a lot about myself.  I learned that I have a profound love for big foot, yes....sasquatch.  I've also learned I love astronomy and have been getting into Stephen Hawking.  I find myself looking to learn more and strive to not be close minded.

I also have a new position at work since the last time I had an update.  I am now a regional coordinator, and make about twice as much as I used to.  I am enjoying my life and living it the way I want to.  Eventually, I'll head back to Minnesota, but for right now, I want to enjoy Denver and have fun with my friends.

Ok.. enough catching up, let's get into some more fun stuff.  Until next time.

Bring it Bucket

I am feeling helpful today, so I am going to add some "how-to's" and such.  Wish I had more than one follower to enjoy the mess I call "my life."
I have a bucket list so I will slowly add "how to's" on how to complete the items on my bucket list.  We will start with the 14er.

I've always wanted to climb a 14,000 FT Mountain here in Colorado, so this is how I'm gonna do it someday!!

since I've always wanted to hike a fourteener here HOW TO:

1. Prepare your route. Make sure the trail you plan to follow is within your hiking and endurance capabilities. Check the weather report for the day you plan to hike. Try to be off the peak as early as possible to avoid afternoon thunderstorms and lightning.

2.Gather all your supplies the day before you attempt the climb. You may be trying to summit in one day or take a multi-day backpacking trip. Either way, ensure you have proper equipment and survival gear.
3.Notify someone of your trip and estimated time of return. Provide specifics including: vehicle make, model and license number; who you are traveling with; trailhead; and planned route.
4.Leave early to give yourself enough time to complete the trip and avoid hazardous weather. Lightning is especially hazardous above treeline. Storms have a greater chance of forming in the afternoon. Plan to descend below treeline as early in the day as possible.
5.When hiking, try to keep a steady pace. Don't rush at the start and be sure to give yourself enough water breaks.
6.Above 12,000' (or lower if you're not acclimated) stop and rest for a few minutes if you feel lightheaded. The lightheadedness is from a lack of oxygen to your brain. Resting will make more blood available for your noggin'.
7.Enjoy the view at the top and sign the logbook (if available) as a record of your success.
8. Observe the weather and return to tree line before hazardous weather approaches.
9.Keep a steady pace on the descent. Be careful not to run and trip. The downward hike is often more strenuous on the legs and feet than hiking uphill.
10. Return to the trail head before dark, or be sure to carry a flashlight or headlamp.
11. Brag to your friends about your success (or try again another day).

Stellar.

Welcome to Coloroful Colorado as they say.. I recently went back on top of Mt. Evans with some friends from MN (rep'in my MN Twins ) and my lover and I had our one year anniversary yesterday.  We went to the Royal Gorge by Canon City, CO.  We even camped the night away just the two of us. It was so nice to spend some time together, alone!   This year has been rough on both of us, but we always have eachother and no matter what happens we will be here for each other too.  I wrote Dan a poem, I've never written a poem for anyone before, I was embaressed and proud at the same time!  We went out to Hapa Sushi also last night, it was delicious!! I hadn't had sushi in a while so it was quite a treat along with the PLUM sake :)  Below is a pic of me on Mt Evana and the Royal Gorge.

You may recall that I may or may not be obsessed with Grieves.  Well the day finally came where I went to see my future baby daddy.  It was amazing.  I fought myself up to the second row and felt like a 12 year old at a Justin Beiber concert.  He's unconventionally hot, and it made my life complete.  On the left is a picture of me and Budo (who tours with Grieves.)  The night was a blasty blast, the following day at work however was NOT.

Tonight we are off to see Ray Lamontagne and David Gray at Red Rocks.  I've never been to Red Rocks for a show, we went and looked at it once when I came out for vacay so I am STOKED.  Should be a chill concert and we're only 26 rows back.  It says no cameras, but red rocks can suck it?  or CAN they?

Summers coming to a slow end..

So, I blessed Vegas with my presence once again.  We stayed at the Golden Nugget on Freemont street, it's a nice change of pace from the strip.  My team from work won, so we got to go see the Blue Man Group, that was insane!! Glad I got to experience a Vegas show, usually I'm the (shit)show when I'm there!

Dan and I went to the 4th of July Rockies game.  I broke down and bought us shirts.. had to represent...  We got the rockpile tickets so we got to sit on the field at the end to watch the fireworks! It was one of the coolest things I've ever got to experience before! Man I have a handsome man..

My feet hurt so bad after the grooms dinner in Minnesota that JD decided to be my horsey.. it didn't last long but the temporary relief was glorious!~

ANNNNNNNND we just recently went camping down by Gunnison, CO.  It' was beautiful down there.  I was worried about bears the whole time so it was hard to relax, and I wish I was joking...

I also just purchased the new iPhone 4 and sold my old one for $250. It was a good weekend, except Dan worked the whole time.  I will be going back to Minnesota for Labor Day, but only to spend time with my family "up north" CANT WAIT!

I never really realized how much I love Chuck Norris jokes until today.. I mean really? who thought of these.. nonetheless I don't care but they make me giggle.

I'm going camping in the Rockies this weekend, as if Shark Week wasn't giving me enough nightmares this week now I'm worrying about bears... sweeeeeeeeeeet  I can't wait to relax by the fire with some booze.. it's tuesday and it's already been a long week.
